Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin to Cut Ribbon at The Look Salon Suites April 21 Grand Opening Locally Owned Innovative New Business Offers Unique, Supportive Ecosystem for Primarily Women-Owned Service Providers
Raleigh, NC, April 18, 2023 – Locally-owned The Look Salon Suites (The Look) will be celebrating the grand opening of its first location on April 21. Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin will be on hand to cut the ribbon to launch the innovative new business model that will offer a unique, supportive ecosystem for primarily women-owned service providers in the Triangle. The Look is located at 5821 Poyner Village Parkway, Suite 105 in North Raleigh’s Poyner Place shopping center. Its co-founders are Hardik Raval and Prasad and Kate Naik. The grand opening celebration will be held at 1:15 p.m. on April 21.
The Look’s mission is to provide beauty and personal service professionals with high-end, fully equipped salon studios that provide a luxurious, modern experience for them and their clients. Part of what sets the company’s business model apart is that it will also offer small business mentorship services in marketing, setting up an LLC, bookkeeping, and much more.
“As entrepreneurs ourselves, we know firsthand how hard and expensive it can be to start and maintain a successful business,” said Kate Naik. “This community has been very good to us and our businesses, and we want to give back by providing other owners with not only a place to do business but a supportive ecosystem for them to succeed.”
Kate Naik has a post master’s degree in clinical research and a master’s degree in chemical technology. She has 17 years of project management, operations, and sales experience in the cosmetic and healthcare industry. Prasad Naik is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of experience working as a financial consultant and with public and private equity-backed companies. And Hardik Raval is a real estate and IT professional with a master’s degree in biomedical engineering and experience in real estate, healthcare, and the pharmaceutical industries. All three are established entrepreneurs with other businesses that they operate.
The Look is located in 3,650 square feet of space which is divided into 18 suites. Sixteen of those are single suites, and the other two are equipped for double occupancy. Salon owners are provided with pre-fitted salon chairs, shampoo bowls, hair styling equipment, and cabinets and are able to decorate their studio as they see fit. There is also a common area, kitchen and breakroom, and inhouse laundry. Salon owners pay rent for their space and keep 100 percent of their profit.
“We have a diverse mix of service providers with a wide range of experience,” said Prasad Naik. “Instead of competing with one another, they truly complement and support each other.”
The Look opened its doors on February 1 and was completely leased out by the second week in February. The company’s goal is to open six locations in the Triangle and throughout North Carolina over the next three years and to start franchising nationwide by its fourth year in business.
“This is a model that we absolutely believe in,” said Hardik Raval. “Our research has shown that there is actually a shortage of beauty and personal service professionals in our area based on population. The main reason for this is high entry costs and lack of startup knowledge. We are taking those barriers away so that anyone with even a small existing customer base can easily start their own business.”
